During the winter of 2000, we decided to add a humidifier to the furnace. One of my coworkers recommended AMS and Moshe was the one who did the installation.  I guess he has left a very positive impression on me.  Fast forward 20 years later, our furnace blower started to make squeaky noise and few days later, it stopped completely.  So I called Moshe in the evening and got an appointment at noon the next day. Since both the furnace and air conditioner were old, it was really no sense to put more money on them.  We ended up getting a furnace/air conditioner combo at a very reasonable price. On the next day, Moshe and Walter, the technician arrived punctually and installed the system in about 7 hours, leaving the job site neat and clean. Moshe is prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him for HVAC needs.

We purchased entire electric heating and cooling unit (condenser and inside airflow coil unit) from AMS. We had renovated our basement prior to our system went down. It turns out our wire got damaged, which was discovered by AMS during the installation. They fixed it free of charge.
They were professional and charged a reasonable price. I appreciate the professionalism, which is extremely difficult to find in this industry. I got 6 other quotes before choosing AMS. Some of them were downright crooks. I'm glad that I made the choice. I plan to use them for my maintenance.

I am not one to write reviews but AMS deserves to recognized.  They are responsive, dependable and just good at they do.  I called on a Friday morning around 7 am and they got back to me promptly. They were at the house around 9 am and fixed the problem after thoroughly checking the system.  AMS is our go to!

Moshe arrived as scheduled for all appointments.  Job was completed on time and no surprises from the quote.  Team and owner were professional and worked effectively.  We had a full ac & Furnace installation, and would be happy to recommend AMS for any residential AC  service.

I do not write a lot of reviews, but the service provided by AMS A/C and Heating was exceptional and deserves recognition.

Recently one of our AC systems stopped blowing cold air. For years, we had used another company for all of our HVAC repairs; but their service has declined to a point that this time they did not even bother to contact us to schedule an appointment in spite of multiple phone calls, a webchat, and even an email to the owner.

Frustrated, I found out about AMS on Yelp and decided to call after reading and verifying (via Fakespot) the many positive reviews. The phone number is the personal cell phone number of the owner, Moshe.  In less than 5 minutes I had set up an appointment for 9 AM the following day.  So far, so good.

Moshe arrived as scheduled, diagnosed the likely problem immediately and provided an estimate. After confirming the source of the problem, he made the necessary repairs (replaced a bad capacitor in the outdoor unit), and then cleaned the compressor.  He provided electronic paperwork on an iPad, I signed, and immediately received a digital copy of the invoice.

The entire repair took a half hour and IMO was priced competitively for the DC Metro area.

I wholeheartedly recommend AMS without hesitation. Prompt, professional service at a fair price.

I rarely give feedback. But, I have to share how much integrity and excellent service Moshe and his team provides.  I have used them three times for different issues and they always exceed my expectations with prompt and thorough service and treat me with complete fairness. They are simply excellent.

Moshe is great, I have used him several times with my rental properties in Rockville. He is very quick to respond and knowledgeable. I have several repairs with the furnace and AC unit, bought a brand new furnace unit, replace blower, and such.

AMS provides quality and reliable work, highly recommended for HVAC needs.

Moshe came out and diagnosed a failing compressor in my heat pump based upon the sound it was making and its temperature. This was after a previous company came out and looked at the compressor and the air handler and after 3 hours determined the problem was with the thermostat alone. While the thermostat did have an issue and I replaced it, they completely missed the compressor problem and our heat pump was still blowing cold air.

Moshe thoroughly explained to me what was going on and gave me multiple options to move forward - recommending the best option for our situation and long term solution. He was flexible with his schedule and we found a date to replace the entire HVAC system for the upstairs.

Moshe and his team worked through 10 degree freezing temperatures in 30 mph winds and did a great job installing the system and stayed out in the bitter cold until every pressure reading was within optimal parameters and that everything worked 100%

AMS is an honest small business and represents the highest quality in service.

With AMS you get an experienced individual who will help you out however he can, instead of the corporate experience you'll get with one of the big guys. I called on a Saturday evening and had him there Sunday morning looking at all our options on how to deal with our old AC unit. Since then I've called him back about issues in our house that ended up not having anything to do with the work they did and he was still there promptly to help out, free of charge. Good honest people like this are hard to come by. Would highly recommend for anything HVAC related in your home.

Great choice!  Called on a weekend when our outdoor compressor died and AMS was there right away.  Within minutes, the problem was fixed (and compressor was cleaned) for a very reasonable price.  Extremely happy I called AMS!

Let's be honest, no one wants to shell out thousands and thousands of dollars to replace an HVAC.  And that's exactly what happened to me.  My HVAC broke down and I shopped around and found Moshe and his company.  His prices were the best compared to the other places I looked at.

I scheduled an in-home free estimate with Moshe himself (owner) and he came and looked at my HVAC and gave me different prices for different models.  On the day of the installation, Moshe and two employees showed up to do the work.  One of his employees even laid down towels on the floor so that they would not leave dirt all over the house!  All in all, it took about 3-3.5 hours to finish (a lot faster than I thought it would take).

After the installation, Moshe showed me how to work the new thermostat as well as tips to maintaining the HVAC. Overall, very responsive, especially when you message him through yelp.  I would definitely recommend AMS to those looking for a new HVAC or even just to get it serviced.

I contacted AMS through Yelp when my AC stopped working. I received a quick response on their availability and then scheduled an appointment. The two men arrived at the scheduled time and quickly diagnosed the problem, changed the capacitor, and added freon. They were friendly and rates were very reasonable compared to other companies I contacted. I highly recommend.

Edited to add: I contacted AMS again for our upstairs HVAC unit. It had stopped working. Moshe gave us options/pricing to replace parts, but the system was very old and he suggested replacing it. He gave me an estimate on several systems and we ended up having him install a new unit. We've been happy with it. Great to have a cool house!

They came, they saw, they fixed my ancient 32 year old AC unit. I'm actually kinda amazed they did it. Really impressed. What they did, imho, is akin to surgery. Good guys, good work. Consider me now a fan!

This company is awesome. Moshe came out the same day to assess my sudden loss of AC during a hot day. Coolant was leaking, furnace was deteriorating, e.i. my system that was at least 20yrs old needed to be replaced. I decided on a Bryant 16SEER, 13EER. I looked around at 11 other companies and no one could beat the AMS price. They were back out to my house in 4 days, completed the job in 8 hours, and explained to me the details of their work. Included in the price is an inspection by a third party. This company was transparent, timely, trustworthy, and affordable.

I first called at 11:48 am. Shortly afterwards... He got to my house exactly when he said he would. By 2:15 pm he had already assessed the problem and fixed it... and I had the heat working again. That's pretty damn fast!! And that includes a 25 min run-to-Home Depot trip for air filters that I went on after he got to my house (and he patiently waited in his van for me to return so he could install it for me). This man is awesome. Great timely service at a very reasonable price. Thanks Moshe!

I highly recommend Moshe and his team. He scheduled an assessment within a day or two, was on time (actually, 10 minutes early!), looked at our system and made a very clear recommendation and explanation of the recommendation, which was to replace our furnace (21 years old, very rusted burners) both for safety reasons and because it's not worth throwing repair money at something that will need to be replaced shortly anyway (we had just bought our house, so we are in it for the long haul). He did not suggest replacing the A/C (also 21 years old), even though it seems reasonable that he could have -- but he pointed out that it's not a safety issue and seems ok, so if it's not broke don't fix it. I mention this because it made me feel more comfortable that he wasn't just conning me into replacing something that didn't need replacement.

His team (also on time, and scheduled to install the furnace within a couple of days after the request) was very professional and did a great and efficient job installing the new furnace. They also did a couple of other related things as part of the whole deal, coming back quickly when a problem arose (which was not their fault). I highly recommend AMS for your A/C and heating needs.

One of BEST experiences I have had with the specialized trades (read: ALL TRADES).  I called Moshe to help diagnose a shorting issue with our aging heat pump unit that was beyond my skill set.  He showed up promptly, took time to inspect all the parts of the unit I was concerned with, helped me walk through somethings to look out for and offered a range of solutions from specific part repairs to a full on replacement.  Other (read: most) HVAC servicers are quick to simply quote a replacement only since the mark up on units and installation hours are so high.  Moshe instead was courteous, professional and trustworthy.  I will definitely recommend his services to friends and recommend him here as well.  A++

Our previous HVAC contractor that had been taking care of two different houses since 2002 did mediocre work while gouging longtime loyal customers for parts and time so when we needed a new heat pump, we gave 3 companies the chance to earn our business.

Moshe's price was close enough and he was clearly the most professional and his references were amazing.  Moshe is the owner and is at every install and his team did a fantastic install job and gave some suggestions on grading the ground near the pad and "lifted" the compressor as much as possible.

He was just here to swap out a thermostat, dropped off a free extra filter and refused to take any money for his visit.  He's incredibly responsive after the sale via text or phone and a gentle, honest, very competent human being.

My wife and I wished we could give him 6 stars.

Our HVAC/Oil service provider for OVER 20 years basically blew us off.....logged on to YELP and within 10 minutes had spoken with Moshe himself, explained the issue, and had a next day appointment.  New thermostat installed WITHIN AN HOUR.  On time, articulate, quick, friendly, CHEAPER than the quote from our FORMER HVAC company.   Five starts doesn't cover it when you have no heat/ac.

I called Moshe at 7:00 A.M. Saturday morning. After half an hour he called me back and scheduled me for 1 hour later. Moshe came on time and fixed the problem immediately. Overall, Moshe was very responsive, very prompt, and very professional.

AMS is an air conditioning and heating business with a soul. Unlike the huge, faceless and often voiceless HVAC companies who are often hard to reach and take a long time to address your problems, AMS provided us immediate assistance when our igniter went out, bringing much needed warmth to us and our 3 young children. On other occasions, AMS has provided us with phone diagnostics at no charge and helped us address the problem at no cost. If you want a responsible, personable solution to any HVAC needs, AMS should be your first stop.

AMS installed (and still maintains) our HVAC system; quick, clean timely install at a price lower than 2 other quotes for comparable equipment. We are very happy with our AMS-installed system and the continuing service we receive.

I have been a customer of AMS for quite a number of years. They are my go-to HVAC contractor. I have replaced four complete systems with AMS in four separate houses. Two were renovations, one was a rental property and one my personal residence. Each time the service was prompt and reasonably priced. When a problem came up that caused the system to stop working they came quickly and diagnosed the problem correctly while minimizing my down time.

A few years ago I build an addition in my home and hired Ams air conditioning to do the mechanical work. The are very professional, knowledgable and skilled. The design and installation of a second zone in the addition was perfect and made the new space comfortable. Thank you AMS

We worked with AMS Air-conditioning for over 20 years and received a very professional and successful service every time.

Today AMS technician replaced the condensation pump after identifying that this was the core reason for a whole bunch of problems we were experiencing. He showed up on time, did the service and thoroughly explained to me what the problem was and how it effected other parts of the heating system.

We recommend AMS to all everybody who asks us for reference info.

Last summer, on a miserably hot day, my AC went out; and this winter, on a miserably cold day, I lost my heat. For both events AMS responded quickly and fixed the problem at a reasonable cost. I admit, I don't have much experience with other heating/AC places; but with the excellent service I got from AMS, I have no need to look for anyone else!

AMS installed a high efficiency HVAC system in our house about 20 years ago. With prompt services and adequate maintenance the system still works just like a brand new one.
Service calls are returned immediately, service is excellent, and utility bills are very low.
I recommend him and his company as your reliable HVAC company, because you will never have any worry about your heating or air conditioning

Amazing service! This summer during a heat wave our air conditioner stopped working due to earlier flooding in the basement. We called AMS and they were able to diagnose and solve the problem right away. Last week our heat stopped working. I called AMS at 7 am leaving a message about this being an emergancy. The temperature in my house was below 60, and I have a little kid. I called another company just in case AMS was unavailable. Moshe called back right away and was at my house before 11. He diagnosed the problem, went to get parts and my heat was restored by 1 PM-before I even heard back from the other company.

You will not find better service. I am sure other companies would have seen my desperation and would have tried to replace my whole unit. This was not the case. AMS always tries to solve the particular problem with the unit. I cannot recommend this company enough. They do not try to push extra equipment on you or sell you things you do not need. They are efficent, quick and very reasonably priced. If you need a part replaced they will give you options in different price ranges and explain the difference between them. Like others have said on here: I am glad I found AMS!

We've been using AMS for almost 15 years. They are very reliable and either show up as per the arranged schedule (90% of the time) or call to reschedule. They've provided various services for our cooling/heating systems. They've fixed a leak in the cooling system; a furnace that wouldn't ignite on its own (an emergency repair on a snowy weekend with a short notice); a humidifier that stopped working, and most recently, brought back to life a heat pump that died due to a short circuit - that's a tough one to fix, given the gazillion of wires in the system. After adding space to the house, they replaced the units with a higher capacity system. If we can't get a live person on the phone, we get a call back within a reasonable time frame. We'd use them again, if needed - so should you!

I used AMS services at least 4 times. AMS employees are both knowledgable and competitive. They constantly responded to my calls regardless of the time. They work quickly and efficiently and always leave my home clean after they are complete with the job. I highly recommend AMS Home Improvement to anyone looking for a contractor.

It is not easy to come by today in what is AMS providing while other companies (that I will not mention their names) are charging you extra fees for nothing or using the fact that you might be no so educated and selling you services or parts that you really don’t need.
At AMS you really can’t find this type of service!!!

AMS has provided my air conditioning and heating service for more than 20 years. In addition to performing biannual HVAC inspections, AMS technicians have installed a furnace, heat pump, and hot water heater in my residence. They are always knowledgeable, efficient, and reliable. I recommend them highly. That is why I volunteered to post this review.

I have used them several times and they have always offered great service at a great price. More importantly, there were some occasions (I fixed up houses so that's why I used them multiple times) where I was expecting to buy a new system but they were able to repair at low cost. In other words, they are VERY honest. So whether it's a new system, or repair, or maintenance ... I recommend them very highly!!!

I had recent need for service to my furnace on two separate instances. The technician Moshe showed up exactly when he said he would and phoned/texted when he was on his way over. I value my time and appreciate when services respect this. In both cases the tech went right to work and quickly diagnosed the issue (a broken capacitor $25 in the first case, and a broken ignitor $125 in the second, plus two $89 service calls). I'll let you be the judge as to whether I over paid. But like I said, the guy shows up on time, on the same day as my call in the AM, gets to the heart of the problem and doesn't try selling you a service plan you don't need. If I overpaid it was worth it. The only thing I'd suggest perhaps is you negotiate the service visit fee in advance. Highly recommended.

I have been a customer of AMS for several years for the reasons that they are reliable, prompt and deliver high quality service at reasonable price. They installed a complete heating and cooling system in my house, duct work, furnace and AC unit, and have been servicing it for the past 7 years without major expense and worry-free. When my AC system stopped working one day, their technician was able to walk me through, by phone, to fix the problem of burned electric fuse. In other AC problem, they serviced the unit the same day we called. I am very satisfied with their services and highly recommend it for any AC or heating work. I wish that other small business services have the same high quality and customer service as AMS has.

Moshe and his team at AMS just replaced my old furnace and A/C system with a new high efficiency system. They walked me through everything beforehand, charged a fair price, helped me with Pepco rebates and were done in one day. Neat, friendly and professional. What else could you want?

Its hard to find a contracting company that is going to be responsive, honest, and reasonable, but I finally found one. I service my AC regularly and have had a couple issues. Prior to finding AMS, I used 2 other AC service providers who did not take the time to identify issues and had me waiting for hours for their arrival. AMS' Moshe is punctual, professional, and thorough in finding out what the issues are, if any. I will continue to use AMS and highly recommend them to anyone who needs AC service.
